Your EFAP

If you have ASEBP benefits (excluding the MyRetiree Plan), you may have access to our Employee and Family Assistance Program (EFAP), offered by Inkblot by GreenShield. You can confirm enrolment by checking your ASEBP ID card or My ASEBP account.

Your EFAP connects you and your dependants with clinical mental health professionals (e.g., Master of Social Work or registered counsellors), registered nurses, legal and financial experts, and more.

Individual Counselling
Four Hours Per Calendar Year
If you’re struggling with feelings of depression or anxiety, or you simply want to talk through a difficult situation with someone, your EFAP can connect you with a counsellor to provide support.
Covered members and their dependants have access to the Inkblot video counselling platform. Using Inkblot’s unique matching algorithm, you can have sessions virtually, via video, phone, or in person after you have matched with a counsellor who can meet your personal and therapeutic needs.
Couples Counselling
Four Hours Per Calendar Year
From new relationship challenges to support when thinking about separation, your EFAP can match you with a counsellor who can help you and your partner discover what’s best for you both.
Couples counselling is available to covered members and their dependants. Appointments can be booked for 60 or 90 minutes and are accessible in the same manner as individual counselling sessions.
Health Coaching
Four Hours Per Calendar Year
From quitting smoking, eating a more balanced diet, or delving into any other physical health-related quest, get support from registered nurses, dietitians, and more to support your journey.
Information and counselling on adaptive and preventative health and well-being include smoking cessation, eating well models/nutrition, and weight management.
Career Coaching
Four Hours Per Calendar Year
Want to make a move in your career but are unsure of the next steps, or maybe you’re experiencing a difficult relationship with a colleague that you would like help navigating? This service can help!
Coaching and guidance around career management, career transition, and retirement transition.
Life Transitions
Four Hours Per Calendar Year
Big changes in life (think: becoming a parent or planning to retire) often come with big emotions. If you find yourself wondering if you are making the right choice, or, if you are in the earlier stages of planning and want some guidance, this service can help.
Information and support for those planning a family, who need parenting advice or support with childcare, eldercare, or teens. Also includes support through marriage, divorce, and becoming an empty nester.
Financial Advice
As needed, no limit
Offers personal guidance from financial advisors on topics ranging from tax questions, managing debt, saving for the future, budgeting and more.
Provides information and clarification on credit management, budgeting, financial management, overextension, investing, retirement planning, insurance, and taxes. These services are managed by Acquaint Financial (appointment times scheduled on the Inkblot portal).
Legal Advice
As needed, no limit
Access legal professionals who can provide advice on things like real estate law, family law, and more.
Provides information and clarification on real estate, divorce, custody and child support, wills and estate planning, family matters, consumer concerns, criminal matters, and legal rights.

A 1-800 number and case ID is provided to covered members immediately upon access to the Inkblot portal.

Your yearly service allotment is available to you free-of-charge. Once all counselling hours are used, you can continue with your chosen mental health professional at a rate lower than the national average and submit your receipts to ASEBP for reimbursement through your extended health benefits or Health Spending Account.
